Ramon Magsaysay commanded the admiration, respect and affection of people because he was simple and a humble man, because he cared for all people as individuals and believed in their dignity and importance and because he had his courage of his convictions, his objective was to improve the life of lot of his fellows.

‘Ideology’

He worked to build a nation – ‘ A World – In which all people were free and lived in honor and peace with one another.  He was from The Nacionalista Party of Philippines. It is the oldest political party in both the Philippines and in Southeast Asia in general.

Since it was found in 1907 – It was responsible for leading the country throughout the majority of the 20th century. It was the ruling party from 1935 – 1946 (Under Presidents Manuel Quezon and Sergio Osmena), From 1953 -1961 (Under Presidents Ramon Magsaysay and Carlos P Garcia) and from 1965 – 1972 (Under President Ferdinand Marcos).

If we talk about its Ideology, then it was initially created as Filipino Nationalist Party that supported Philippines Independence until 1946, when the United States granted Independence to the country. Since then, many scholarly articles that dealt with the history of political parties during the Third Republic agreed that the party has been Increasingly Populist.

Although some argued they had conservative tendencies because of their opposition to the Liberal Party and the Progressive Party and since then “The Populist ideology of the party remained to present day as described”.

‘The Ramon Magsaysay Award’

The Ramon Magsaysay Award is an annual award established to perpetuate former Philippines President Ramon Magsaysay’s example of integrity in governance along with the courageous service to the people and pragmatic idealism within a democratic society.

In May 1957, seven prominent Filipinos were named to the founding board of trustees of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation, the non-profit corporation tasked with implementing the awards program. Later on, the board of trustees diversified and included prominent Asians from all over the Asian continent and outlying islands.
